ABSTRACT

A study has been carried out on ANAMMCO Automotive assembly plant on their current level of assembly operations automation and how to migrate to the Industry 4.0. A visititaion to the plant was carried out for on the spot assessment of the industry present operational level. ANAMMCO currently still operate on the human-machine level kind of assembly operations of its vehicle with no robotic applications. The disruptive technology of which Industry 4.0 is the key enabler is already in full operations in the global key automotive assembly players. This comes with a lot of benefits in terms of employability, technology advancement, increased revenue to the industry, and decarbonisation.  The study shows that if ANAMMCO being a key player in the Nigerian automotive industry  does not want to be left out can start to migrate to the industry 4.0 level from either the body welding operations or the pain shop. This can be easily achieved by collaborating with the Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electronics and Computer Engineering departments of the universities for the design, development and deployment of the key hardware that will enable this innovation to take place affordably and economically.
