ABSTRACT

 

This study examined the nexus between dividennd poliicy and corporate market performance in Nigeria from 2000 to 2015. The study was structured into five chapters. Chapter one focused on the general introduction of the study; which was further sub-divided into background to the study, statement of the problem, general and specific objectives of the study, statement of the research hypotheses, significance of the study, scope of the study, organization of the study. Further, relevant and related literature was reviewed in chapter two. Specifically, we examined the theoretical and conceptual framework of the study; empirical review, summary and evaluation of the literature reviewed. Further, methodical issues were addressed relating to research design, model specification, where variiables used in the research models were discussed; analytical framework, data required /sources as well as estimation techniques and procedures. We adopted a four-stage methodology in this study. First the stationary status of the data series was examined using the Levin, Lin and Chu (LLC) and lm, Pesaran and Shin (lPS) root tests. This was followed by the long run regression test. The third stage was the Johansen cointegration test, specifically the Pedroni Johansen cointegration test and the fourth stage was Granger causality test.Data was presented and anallyzed. Major findings were summarized and discussions of findings were advanced based on the objectives and hypotheses of the study.The study was summarized and conclusion made. We also made some recommendation for poliicy; recommendation for further studies and finally stated the contribution of this study to knowledge.
