ABSTRACT
In-situ stresses play the most important role in borehole stability during drilling operation. Problems pose by Uncertainties in the measurement of stress during drilling are enormous in the petroleum industry. In this paper a handy computer tool for estimating the magnitude and direction of horizontal matrix stresses was developed. A solution set is obtained using data from a LOT together with overburden stress, pore pressure and well orientation data. The inversion methodology is demonstrated using a case history from Snorre field in the North Sea
