ABSTRACT

This study investigated channel management and marketing performance of petroleum products in Port Harcourt.  A sample of 17 petroleum product companies was used for the study. For the purpose of this study, five research questions were drawn to guide the study. Relevant literatures and concepts relating to the study were reviewed. To achieve the objectives, the paper uses ex-post facto survey design to explore opinions on “channel management and marketing performance of petroleum products”. The study applied ex-post-facto survey research design. Random sampling was used to select five petroleum companies in Port Harcourt. The sources of data were secondary and primary data. The primary source of Data was collected using a questionnaire instrument titled “channel management and marketing performance of petroleum products” (CMMPPC).The questionnaires were distributed to sample population of 40 respondents. Data collected were statistically treated using simple percentages and mean score statistics. Findings from the study revealed that that there is a significant and positive relationship between the select variables, namely, self-concept and academic achievement of students in different categories of schools following different systems of education at the higher secondary level.  The study recommends that petroleum product companies should conduct frequent survey to track Customer satisfaction levels and effect remedial measures if the need be. In as much as majority of the customer are workers and youth, petroleum Products Company should involve themselves in internet marketing and other social media to provide convenience and 24 hour service to their customers. Based on the findings necessary conclusions were drawn and suggestions for furthers studies made.
